Test Run

Officially Launching Our Non-Profit

My excitement is growing to officially get the work of this non-profit going.

Spartan Super 10K Race Challenge

This past Saturday, a friend and I took on the challenge of a Spartan Super 10K race. If you're not familiar with Spartan races, they are not just your average running events; they are intense obstacle course races that test your physical strength, endurance, and mental fortitude. Competitors tackle a series of demanding obstacles over a rugged distance, pushing their limits and confronting their fears.

Preparing for Recovery

The day before the race, I was thrilled to finally set up our brand-new cold plunge system. I got the chiller up and running, and the water temperature began to drop to the thermostat setting I selected: a brisk 50 degrees Fahrenheit. I envisioned how refreshing this plunge would feel after we pushed our bodies through 10 kilometers of challenging terrain and nearly 30 grueling obstacles.

Post-Race Recovery

After completing the race, we made our way back home, where my wife had the sauna warmed up and ready for our recovery. We wasted no time getting to work on rejuvenating our tired muscles. The cold plunge truly makes a difference; unlike a regular cold shower, this full immersion allowed me to feel the invigorating effects of the cold water enveloping my sore body. It was as if the inflammation was being drawn out, and the aches and pains dissipated with each second submerged in the chilling water.

Experiencing the Benefits

After two rounds in the hot sauna and a cool rinse followed by the cold plunge—always essential to rinse first in the shower next to the plunge—I plunged back into the cold water once more. I could feel the endorphins and dopamine surging through me, a well-known benefit of cold water immersion. I found myself talking smack about wanting to run another race "right now." And that’s when you know your recovery plan is working!
